JOHNSTON – Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation (Resource Recovery) is encouraging residents to attend the final Community Shred Day of the 2018 series on November 3 from 8 AM to 12 PM at Shred RI located at 2111 Plainfield Pike in Johnston. This shredding series was created to provide Rhode Island residents with more opportunities to properly recycle intact sensitive documents. Only personal documents generated in Rhode Island homes will be accepted; no documents from businesses, even home-based businesses, will be accepted.
As a reminder, a sensitive or confidential document is one that contains a unique, identifying number that can be traced directly to a specific person, and which cannot be found readily through public searches. For example, a person’s name and address is not considered sensitive, confidential information. Junk mail can be recycled whole.
The limit will be two containers full, similar in size to the old 22-gallon blue or 16-gallon green household recycling bins. Papers that are not sensitive or confidential in nature will not be shredded at this event. Please remove large metal binder clips, rubber bands, and plastic bags prior to attending the event. All documents should be dry; wet documents will be disposed without being shredded.
For more information about Community Shred Days, and what you can and can’t recycle in your bin or cart, go to www.rirrc.org or call the recycling hotline at 942-1430 x775.
Note: This one-day event is NOT located at Resource Recovery! Residents looking to participate most go to Shred RI located at the Plainfield Flea Pike Market Parking Lot.
